The Village of the Arts

"The Village of the Arts" was born in 1999 when the non-profit Artists Guild of Manatee was formed. Its mission was to build a community where artists could live and work, while enhancing their quality of life and creating a harmonious artisitc environment with creative spirit. Located in Manatee County, near Downtown Bradenton, the Village offers an eclectic mix of early 20th century residential bungalows, Florida Cracker homes, and some later additions. The neighborhood includes a legal commercial overlay, which enables a rare live/work/play mix. Local residents enjoy Village Walk events that feature a varitety of artists. Village boundaries stretch from 9th Ave West to 17th Ave West between 9th St West and 14th St West. Over 275 individual properties are within the Village. The Village has experienced incredible growth, evolving from a neglected neighborhood, to a unique and loved artistic retreat.

Village residents and the Guild have partnered with United Way Manatee for grassroots neighborhood beautification, worked with Realize Bradenton on downtown visioning and planning and offered space to other nonprofit groups during the monthly artwalks. They have also collaborated with the City of Bradenton on various ordinances affecting the Village.

Apps to Stay Connected

Staying connected in a time of social distancing is no easy task. Yet, with all the new challenges our world is facing, we continue to find ways of maintaining our ties to one another. We think staying connected with loved ones is more important than ever, and our real estate agents are thrilled to share some of the apps we've been using to stay in touch.

  1. Zoom
Over the last couple of months, Zoom's popularity has skyrocketed, and not just for virtual business conferences, but social gatherings as well. The app can host up to 1,000 video participants in a session, making it great for getting large groups of friends together. Sessions under 40 minutes are free, but beyond that, you'll need a subscription.
  2. Netflix Party
Chances are you've been watching more TV than ever in 2020, but you're not alone if you miss having friends to binge your favorite shows with. Luckily, there's a solution for anyone who has a Netflix account and a Google Chrome web browser. Netflix Party is a Chrome extension that makes it possible to sync up your Netflix account with your friends' accounts, so you can watch TV in tandem, and even communicate back and forth.

Things to do Sarasota

There's no doubt about it – Sarasota has some of the best beaches in Florida.

Our REALTORS® love the beach, but the weather doesn't always cooperate. What's a family to do when hitting the coast isn't in the cards?

Luckily, there are plenty of options for fun and family bonding. World-class museums, cultural institutions, and attractions for kids abound. Any of them makes for a full day of memories that last a lifetime.

Here are some ideas for Sarasota fun when it's not a beach day:

  1. Crowley Museum & Nature Center – 16405 Myakka Road, Sarasota, FL 34240
